Leo Messi speaks to El Grafico, talks Cristiano Ronaldo & breaking records
Barcelona superstar Leo Messi has given an exclusive interview to Argentinean magazine El Grafico.
Messi covered a wide range of subjects, including Cristiano Ronaldo, the MSN trio with Luis Suarez and Neymar as well as the importance to him personally in breaking individual records.
The Barcelona legend was pretty coy when it comes to Ronaldo: “We are professionals that defend our teams, and rivals in this game, nothing more than that. Sometimes it happens that we win or that we lose. There has always been respect and nothing more.”
El Grafico also asked Messi about the numerous international records that he keeps breaking.
Messi showed his disinterest: “I would rather win something with the national team, even if it was from an own goal. I’m not interested in the records, although they are there, but this doesn’t make you win titles.”
On the MSN trio which has astounded football watchers over the past few seasons, Messi discussed how it seems that the Barcelona threesome seem to get on so well.
Messi: “I really do not know, this comes out of each of us individually. We are human beings and Latinos, perhaps this is why, I do not know.”
El Grafico then asked if it makes any difference that they are from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, three South American rivals, “do you ever make fun of each other?”
Messi: “No, as I told you, we work for Barcelona and there is no rivalry. We are professionals, when each represents the team there is no rivalry or confrontation.”
Classy as ever from Messi.
